10 Tips for Moving to Broken Arrow, OK

April 2, 2026 · Move That Stuff

Broken Arrow is one of Oklahoma's fastest-growing cities and a top choice for families in the Tulsa metro. If you're planning a move to BA, here's what you need to know.

1. The Schools Are Excellent

Broken Arrow Public Schools consistently rank among the best in Oklahoma. If schools are a priority, you'll find strong options at every level, from elementary through the performing arts programs at Broken Arrow High School.

2. The Rose District Is the Heart of Town

Downtown Broken Arrow's Rose District is a walkable area with local restaurants, shops, and community events. It's a great place to get to know your new city and meet neighbors.

3. South BA Is Booming

The area south of the Creek Turnpike is where most new development is happening. You'll find newer homes, shopping centers, and growing neighborhoods. If you want a newer build, this is where to look.

4. It's Close to Everything

Broken Arrow is about 15-20 minutes from downtown Tulsa, giving you easy access to city amenities while enjoying a suburban pace. The Broken Arrow Expressway makes the commute straightforward.

5. The Cost of Living Is Reasonable

Compared to other growing suburbs, Broken Arrow offers solid value. Housing costs are below the national average, and you get a lot of home for your money.

6. There's Plenty to Do Outdoors

Ray Harral Nature Park, Indian Springs Sports Complex, and the Tulsa County trail system give you plenty of outdoor options. The city maintains excellent parks throughout.

7. Plan Your Move for a Weekday

If your schedule allows, moving mid-week to Broken Arrow can save you money and give you a smoother experience. Weekend moves during summer are the busiest times for movers.

8. Check Your Route in Advance

Some Broken Arrow neighborhoods have narrow streets or gated entries. Let your movers know in advance so they can plan for truck access.

9. Utilities Need to Be Set Up Early

Broken Arrow has its own municipal utilities (water, electric, trash). Contact BA City Hall at least a week before your move to transfer or set up service — don't assume it carries over automatically.

10. Hire Local Movers Who Know the Area

Working with movers who know Broken Arrow means fewer surprises. We've been moving families in and out of BA since 2006, and we know the neighborhoods, the access points, and the best routes.
